A town's cultural hub will be known by its original four names when it fully reopens.

Since 2022, Cornerstone in Kettering, Northamptonshire, has been the collective name for the town's library, art gallery, museum and garden.

But following a consultation in February, its various sections will be known as Alfred East Gallery, Kettering Library, Manor House Museum and Manor House Gardens.

The 1904 Grade II listed building's gallery and museum have been closed since the roof was damaged by heavy rain in October 2023.

Work on the building has been going on for about a year

Restoration work on the building, including the repair of its roof with Collyweston slate tiles, is set to be completed by the end of July.

The project, costing about £4.8m, started in June 2025.

In December, North Northamptonshire Council indicated it could open under a new name, which Conservative councillor Helen Harrison said was "unacceptable".

However, following "public feedback and a session with stakeholders in February, a clear direction was identified", the council said.

That consultation noted that any future identity must avoid the perception of an "umbrella brand" and should feel "heritage-led" and "rooted in place".

Each building will have a separate logo.

The library will be closed on 3 and 4 July and will fully reopen in its new position on 6 July.

Martin Griffiths, the council's Reform UK leader, said: "We heard the noise locally about the name Cornerstone and committed to change.

"The new identity acknowledges the heritage of the site and each individual component in a modern, fresh way that will stand the test of time."
