Pope Leo honours dedicated Maidstone volunteer
CafodAnne Green, from Maidstone, has been bestowed with a papal blessing for her 25 years of volunteer work for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (Cafod).
She said she felt honoured to receive the blessing and thanked those who supported her fundraising.
Green is one of several volunteers from England and Wales recognised by Pope Leo.
Other honourees contributed to their communities by campaigning, raising money for those in need, or organising Lent and Harvest appeals.
Cafod said Green volunteered by fundraising for the charity with coffee mornings and an annual Fast Day appeal.
Sarah Cadwallader, the local Cafod representative, said: "She has inspired so many to support Cafod's work in solidarity and generosity, and it was truly wonderful to see her receive such heartfelt appreciation from her parish community."
The charity's CEO, Christine Allen, said the honour highlighted the "significant role" volunteers play in improving communities.
"Our volunteers continue to inspire all of us through their service. Their example reminds us of the importance of working for the common good."
