More than 30 roads across Hull are to undergo "micro-surfacing" work over the next few weeks.

The mainly residential roads will have cracks and potholes repaired before being sealed to prevent water getting in.

Each road will be fully closed while the work is carried out, Hull City Council said.

Affected residents will receive letters two weeks before the work is due to start, a spokesperson added.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: "This programme has been developed to improve the condition of key residential roads that are beginning to show signs of wear, helping to keep them safe and reliable for everyday use.

"We recognise that these works may cause some short term inconvenience and we apologise for any disruption.

"However, we are committed to minimising the impact by completing the works as quickly and efficiently as possible and keeping residents informed throughout."

Work is scheduled to start on Saltash Road, Datchet Garth and Lexington Drive on 18 May and will include work on 29 other roads until 11 June.

Updates are available on the council's website and social media channels.
