Woman in her 70s dies in house fire

A woman in her 70s has died following a house fire in a Cornish village.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the incident was reported in Washaway, near Bodmin, shortly before 21:50 BST on Tuesday with officers attending the scene alongside firefighters and paramedics.

A spokesperson for the force said the woman was found dead inside the property and the fire was not being treated as suspicious.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched, the police spokesperson added.
