More than 6,000 people are expected to take part in a charity motorbike ride and festival to raise money for an air ambulance.

The Bike4Life ride is set to roar off in Shrewsbury on Sunday morning, before crossing the finish at Weston Park on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border, where the festival will take place.

Part of the A5 and M54 in Shropshire will be closed for the 26-mile ride, which starts in Meole Brace park and ride, at 10:30 BST, in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

The festival at Weston Park will include live bands, celebrity biking guests, food stalls and trade stands.

The charity says responds to around four incidents involving motorcyclists each week

Bike 4 Life organisers said around 3,500 bikes, with rider and pillion, would be taking part.

Only qualified motorcyclists could take part in the ride and there would be no cars or bicycles allowed, they added.

The festival, which is due to run between 10:00 and 16:00 BST, will, however, be open to everyone.
