Murder arrest as girl, 3, found dead
Peter Stewart/BBCA man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a three-year-old girl found dead at a property in Surrey.
Surrey Police said the 31-year-old suspect was treated for a serious injury after being detained at an address on Pyrcroft Road, Chertsey, at about 17:40 BST on Thursday.
A three-year-old girl was found dead inside the property, police said.
The force added that detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the girl's death.
PA MediaEight bouquets of flowers have been left at the entrance to Syward Place, an apartment complex on the corner of Pycroft Road and Bell Bridge Road.
There is no longer a police presence outside the building, but officers could be seen in the reception area and along a corridor on the ground floor.
'Tragic incident'
An investigation, led by Surrey Police's Major Crime Team, has been launched to establish the circumstances.
The force said that it believed the incident "took place within a family setting".
In a statement, the senior investigating officer said: "This is a tragic incident, and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened.
"We have made an arrest in connection with this incident and at this stage, we are not looking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation. We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public."
They added there would be a significant police presence in the street over the next few days.
