Attempted murder arrest after man stabbed

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Staffordshire.

The victim, another man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the attack on Silverdale Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, shortly after 07:00 BST on Thursday.

Staffordshire Police said it was being treated as an isolated incident and officers believed the pair were known to each other.

The suspect, who is 25 years old and lives in the town, remains in custody for questioning, a force spokesperson confirmed.

Police have urged anyone who has information about the attack to get in touch via 101 or the force's website.
