Ex-PC charged with GBH of suspected shoplifter

A former Dorset Police officer has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm when he stepped in to detain a man suspected of shoplifting.

Lorne Castle, 47, is accused of seriously injuring the man at Castlepoint shopping centre in Bournemouth on 19 June 2025.

The alleged incident happened about two weeks after Castle left his role as a PC for Dorset Police.

He is due to appear at Reading Magistrates' Court on 27 May.
