Police appeal after woman raped in Glasgow lane

Police have launched an appeal after a woman was raped in a Glasgow lane on Sunday.

The incident happened at about 01:00 in a lane near Clyde Place in the city.

Officers are keen to trace a man who is described as black, with dreadlock styled hair and wearing a black coloured tracksuit. He is said to have spoken with a London accent.

The force said it was important to trace the man as soon as possible and there will be an increased police presence in the area.

Reassurance patrols will also be carried out.

Det Insp Shirley Coyle said: "This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and it's imperative we identify and trace the man responsible.

"I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and assist our investigation."

She asked any drivers with dash-cams or nearby residents with private CCTV or doorbell cameras to check the footage and to contact the police with anything of significance.
