A police puppy has brought a smile to the faces of care home residents in Wolverhampton during a training visit.

Obe, a four-month-old German Shepherd, popped in to Foxlands Grange in Tettenhall with officers and his fosterer to say hello to service users and staff.

"It was a great way for us to help in his environmental and socialising development, whilst also letting some of the residents enjoy the company of a pup for a few hours," said PCSO Helen Denyer.

Obe is part of West Midlands Police's puppy development programme, which aims to develop operational dogs for service.

Denyer added: "During his visit, Obe got lots of attention and fuss from the residents and staff who were delighted to see him."

He will stay with his puppy walker and fosterer until he is 12 months old and then head into intensive training.

The force said it was always keen to hear from future puppy fosterers who could help with the development of future dogs.
