Major Switch Island roadworks set to start
GoogleA major maintenance programme at one of Merseyside's busiest road junctions is set to start later this month.
Essential resurfacing works will take place over the next three months on the A59 at Switch Island.
National Highways said several phased closures would be introduced to minimise traffic disruption, during which time diversions would be put in place.
The junction connects the M57, M58, and three major A-roads - the A59, A5036 and A5758.
The works will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 BST on weekdays from 15 June to 2 September.
The planned works also include new road markings, installing new traffic sensors, replacing missing signs and clearing vegetation.
Access to properties facing the road and emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times, a National Highways spokesperson said.
