A 19-year-old man has died in a single vehicle crash in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Police said the car the man was driving appeared to have left the road on the A36 between Whaddon and Brickworth Corner, near Salisbury, on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the incident shortly after 05:30 BST but the man died at the scene. Police said his family had been informed and officers' thoughts were with his family at this time.

The force is asking any witnesses who saw the crash or anyone with relevant dash cam footage to come forward.

A temporary road closure was in place in both directions on the A36 between Petersfinger and the junction for Brickworth Road, which leads to Whiteparish, until 19:45 BST on Thursday.

Inquiries are ongoing as to how the car came to leave the road.
