Seven candidates are to stand in the forthcoming Greater Manchester mayoral by-election.

The by-election was triggered when Andy Burnham resigned as mayor following his return to the House of Commons after winning the Makerfield by-election on 18 June.

Labour's Burnham won the first mayoral election in 2017 and secured two further terms in office.

People living in all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester will elect his successor on 30 July.

Here is a list (in alphabetical order, by surname) of the seven candidates who are standing in the election.
