Wisteria flowers begin blooming in late spring

The wisteria tunnel at RHS Garden Wisley is now in bloom, with the garden's 75m-long (246ft) Wisteria Walk open to visitors.

The Woking garden has one of the best collections of the flower in the UK, with the walk featuring an arched structure draped with two contrasting purple and white types of the flower.

Chris Lane, holder of the National Plant Collection of Wisteria in Kent, has contributed and shared some of the "exciting" varieties shown in the tunnel.

"It's a great place to get inspired to grow these much-loved climbers at home, even in a small space," a spokesperson for the public garden said.
