David HamiltonA huge fire has continued to burn through the night at a recycling plant in Fife.
Emergency services received reports of the blaze at Lower Melville Wood Landfill Site near Ladybank at about 13:35 on Tuesday.
At the height of the blaze, twelve fire engines and specialist resources attended and the A92 between Melville Lodges and Ladybank and the B937 at Eden Bridge to the A91 were closed.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue said there were still six engines at the scene.
The fire service said the blaze was spread over approximately 200m x 300m (656ft x 984ft) of landfill waste.
Images of large flames towering from afar and thick clouds of grey smoke billowing into the air have circulated on social media.
Dozens of locals in Fife reported seeing smoke from nearby towns and even across the water from Portobello in Edinburgh.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service asked locals to keep their windows and doors closed as they battle to get the fire under control.
A spokesperson said: "There are no reported casualties, and crews remain at the scene."
