Adam asks:
'I'm sure that in the brilliant VX episode, Harry quoted a piece of Shakespeare to Tom when they were saying their 'goodbyes'. What was it?'
Not Shakespeare, but the Bible, a source that Harry regularly returns to. Harry was quoting from St Paul's Letter to the Philippians, Chapter 4, Verse 8: 'Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.'
Morris asks:
'What does COBRA mean?'
COBRA is often described as the government's national emergencies committee. The name COBRA stands for 'Cabinet Office briefing room A', and usually it meets in Downing Street. The Prime Minister can reconvene COBRA at any time that he feels the country is on the verge of an emergency - for example, COBRA met during the foot-and-mouth scares and the fuel crisis in 2000 - and the nature of the crisis would usually determine who would be involved.
Sean Smith wants to know why there are no credits for the series on the transmitted episodes.
This was an idea that came from the Kudos production team after series creator submitted a draft of the first episode with 'Anonymous' where his name should have been. It was decided that it would be fun to leave off the credits to maintain a sense of the anonymity of real-life spies. It was a concept that all of the cast and crew agreed to, although the concession was made where the credits would appear on the website and as an extra on the DVD releases.
Emma Brokenbrow wants to know:
'In Series 2 Episode 5, Tom says he wouldn't be given clearance to go to Egypt. Why not, and what other countries would MI5 agents not be allowed to visit on holiday?'
The nature of Tom's job is such that it could be very dangerous for him to go abroad without going through official channels. If it were discovered that a British spy had entered, say, the Middle East without permission, it could potentially be a diplomatic minefield, even if he had genuinely entered the country just for a holiday. Then it takes time to get the necessary clearance, he'd have to drop all of his current cases to go on holiday, and then there's the small matter that, by then, Tom was beginning to realise that things with Vicki weren't going the way he'd have perhaps liked. So when he told Vicki 'I can't go to Egypt' it wasn't simply that Egypt wouldn't allow him so much as there were a number of reasons why he couldn't go.
Zoe Nigh asks:
'Please can you tell me the name of the actress that played Miranda in series 2, episode 6.'
Miranda was played by Ruth Gemmell, who also appeared in the TV shows Band of Gold and Silent Witness and the film Fever Pitch.
