Just days before the Tsunami disaster Susan Marling was in Thailand reporting for the series Adventures in the Tourist Trade.
On a small island an hour's ferry ride from Phuket she stayed with a local fisherman and his family - members of a homestay club who extend village hospitality to tourists. Many of these local people were caught up in the tragedy. The family Susan stayed with lost their fishing boat and all their lobsters and fish from their fish farm - six months work.
As Susan discovers, tourism has become a yet more important source of income on the island and the homestay club has become a community focus for rebuilding lives and giving local people a voice on a whole range of issues.
