Kenya: Ruto running mate ordered to surrender cash

Rigathi Gachagua, running mate of Kenyan presidential candidate William Ruto, has been ordered to hand over $1.6 million in local currency, as he couldn’t explain its provenance.

Plus, the UN says it’s investigating claims that its peacekeeping soldiers shot and killed civilians during days of violent protests in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

And there have been protests against the rising cost of living in the Malawian capital Lilongwe, as well as other cities in the country.
