Malawians have been protesting against the rising cost of living, and what they say is President Lazarus Chakwera’s failure to uphold a campaign promise to reduce the power held by his office.

Plus, the UN says it’s investigating claims that soldiers from its MONUSCO mission shot and killed civilians during days of violent confrontations in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

And Unitaid announces the creation of a generic form of HIV prevention drug cabotegravir, as a UN report says infection rates are declining worldwide, albeit at a reduced pace.
