Faith and Renewal in Hull
Aled Jones visits Hull in East Yorkshire to explore how new life is being breathed into this historic city through a huge regeneration of its music, culture and faith.
Aled Jones is in the historic city of Hull to explore how music, culture and faith are bringing new life to this historic city, resulting in it being named one of the top places in the world to visit in 2026.
Aled goes to Hull Minster and learns from musical director Mark Keith how its choir was saved ten years ago and is now thriving, partly due to an innovative partnership that takes music into local primary schools to spread the joy of singing.
Aled also visits the workshop of Helen Richardson, who transforms old or discarded items into treasure, all inspired by God’s restorative powers.
And Aled joins a remarkable local church that meets in its own adventure park, complete with high rope courses and zip wires! He hears from Minister Jarrod Cooper how the facilities help promote fun, family and a sense of community.
With glorious music, including some specially recorded hymns from a packed Hull Minster:
1. Hark, My Soul, It Is yhe Lord – Hull Minster
2. A Gaelic Blessing – Hull Minster
3. Holy Forever – Way Church, Wigan
4. O Thou Who Camest from Above – Hull Minster
5. King of Kings, Majesty – The Mint Methodist Church, Exeter
6. How Great Thou Art – Hull Minster
