Ciarán Tourish, best known as the nimble fiddler from Altan, grew up surrounded by the cream of Irish musicians, and naturally absorbed their talent. While his musical background may be similar to so many other musicians in Donegal, his uncommon talent singles him out. Currently he plays with both Moonlighting and Altan.
Donegal man Dermot Byrne was a renowned accordion player even as a teenager, due to his rich musical inheritance from his father, Tómas Ó Beirn. He joined Altan in 1994, and as well as playing in Moonlighting he has his own solo recordings.
Mike McGoldrick was born in Manchester to Irish parents, and was a member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann as a youngster. He has played flute with many bands including Flook, Capercaillie and Moonlighting, as well as releasing three solo albums.
Australian Steve Cooney, who has Irish blood, has had a long and varied music career and is noted for his excellent technique on the guitar. He has played with Sharon Shannon, Altan, and Martin Hayes to name but a few.

The grandson of fiddle maestro Proinsias Ó Maonaigh and nephew of Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (Altan), Ciarán Ó Maonaigh could never be anything less than a great fiddler. He has won the Oireachtas fiddling prize three times with his remarkable fiddling style, and the TG4 Young Traditional Musician of the Year award in 2004.
Aidan O’Donnell hails from Dunkineely in South Donegal, and plays the fiddle in the traditional Donegal style. He, like his musical colleague, has won the Oireachtas fiddling title. Meeting Ciarán Ó Maonaigh was to shape both their futures. After releasing an album entitled ‘Fidil’, they conceived a band of the same name through the addition of a third fiddler, Damien McGeehan.

Singer-songwriter Rory Gallagher began his music career in a group with his cousins singing covers of rock classics. While gigging in local pubs Rory realised his love for singing the songs he'd started writing as a teenager. He found popular and critical success with the band The Revs, and has recently released a solo album, God Bless The Big Bang'.

Aodh Mac Ruairí, or Hughie Rogers as he also known, was born and raised in Rannafast, Co, Donegal. This is an area with a strong and rich musical tradition, for which Aodh has a great love, as he also does for Irish, his first language. He combines his two passions with his study of the old songs of the Gaeltacht.

Three of six sisters from Inishowen in Co. Donegal, Joleen, Lorna and Karen McLoughlin have been playing together as a family band for many years and released their debut album, ‘Between Us’ in 2002 to considerable critical acclaim. Their music is an eclectic mix of blues, folk and contemporary music, which saw them progress through the 2005 Irish talent competition You’re a Star to finish up in third place.
