Italian Language Notes


To form the plural (more than one) of nouns, you don't add -s as in English.

If the ending is -o, -a or -e, you change the final vowel.

-o » -i
 un gelato
» due gelati
 one ice-cream
two ice-creams
-a » -e
 una casa
» due case
 one house
two houses
-e » -i
 un bicchiere
» due bicchieri
 one glass
two glasses

Other endings don't change in the plural

un caffè
» due caffè
 one coffee
two coffees
un bar
» due bar
 one bar
two bars
