BBC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus 2026-27 Barbican Season Jasdeep Singh Degun's Second Sitar Concerto

Degun's second concerto for the sitar continues his groundbreaking work redefining the boundaries of Indian classical music and Western symphonic tradition, masterfully brought to life with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, followed by the poignant simplicity of Sergei Prokofiev's final symphony, originally written for the Soviet Children's Radio Division.

One of the Barbican artists-in-residence this season, Degun is rewriting the rules of the sitar, finding a bold new language that speaks across continents and centuries.
