Jersey bowler Malcolm de Sousa hopes he can get a medal at his fifth Commonwealth Games.
The 34-year-old has reached the quarter-finals in three of his previous four games and is part of the Jersey team for Glasgow 2026.
De Sousa reached the last eight of the men's pairs with John Lowery on his debut in Delhi in 2010 before making the same stage as part of the men's triple in 2018 and 2022.
"On the previous four occasions, I've managed to get through my group on three occasions and just fell at that hurdle," he told BBC Radio Jersey.
"It's always been the quarter-final so hopefully if we get a couple of steps further, then we can get that medal that we really want."
Jersey has never won a bowls medal at the Commonwealth Games - they had two fourth-place finishes in 2006 when their women's pair and women's triples were beaten in bronze-medal play-offs in Melbourne.
Meanwhile, their women's four was beaten by Canada in the quarter-finals in 2002 when losing semi-finalists went on to automatically win a bronze medal.
"It's just an honour and a privilege every time," said De Sousa, who came closest to a semi-final back in 2010 when he and Lowery lost to Scotland in a tiebreak.
"Stepping on to that green, that surface, and you're playing against the best players in the world.
"It's a quite surreal moment really but we've been there before and we're really excited.
"We've got the experience now so I think we're pretty good, we're pretty excited and we're prepared as well."
