There is no denying that Clive Davis was integral to the Sound of the 1970s. As the boss of Columbia, later CBS Records from 1967 until the mid 70s, before he founded Arista Records in 1975, Clive was responsible for bringing the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow, Aerosmith, Santana and Billy Joel to the masses, as well as Simon and Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Earth Wind and Fire, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick....and that was just a few of his artists in the 70s alone! Clive died earlier this week aged 94. Shaun pays tribute throughout the show, playing just a few of the artists who Clive championed. Also on the show, the Rock Date Diary focuses on Hot Chocolate and The Clash, plus there is another 70s Rock Classic pick. Produced by Listen for BBC Radio 2.
