Fay Fife of The Rezillos brings us her new solo album, New Phone New Car New Man, as she joins Len live in the Edinburgh studio. Scottish Opera are touring The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, opening on 9 May at Theatre Royal Glasgow before going to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness. One of Britain’s most respected baritones Sir Thomas Allen and rising star conductor Dane Lam tell us why this particular Opera continues to be so popular with audiences around Scotland, why it's so important for Operas to have live Orchestras, and what Opera tells us about the human condition. On 9 May 1911, whilst performing one of his most famous illusions at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre - then called the Empire Palace Theatre - the world-famous Lafayette was killed by a fire that engulfed the stage. Now, 115 years to the day, on the neighbouring Studio Theatre stage, a brand new musical will unearth the great magician’s story once again. Lafayette: A New Musical is written by John Binnie, with music and lyrics by Richard Ferguson. John and Richard tell us about bringing to life this show and taking their inspiration from the life and legend of acclaimed illusionist Sigmund Neuberger, better known as The Great Lafayette.
