Spring has sprung

Music Planet

Available for 29 days

Kathryn Tickell welcomes the new season with a ballad from Scottish-Norwegian duo of Seamus Cater and Fredrik Rasten, who have just released their debut album Strange the Grass Grows. Also, we look ahead to folk festivals happening in the spring and play a track from another duo, pianist Ryan Molloy and fiddle player Fergal Scahill, who will perform at the Orkney Folk Festival at the end of May. Elsewhere: a recently reissued track from Ethiopian saxophonist Tilaye Gebre, Afro-Colombian currulao by Lyon-based Pixvae, and a new collaboration between Malian balafon player Neba Solo and donso n’goni virtuoso Benego Diakité, produced by Nick Gold. Produced by Silvia Malnati. A Reduced Listening production for BBC Radio 3. To listen on most smart speakers, just say: 'Ask BBC Sounds to play Music Planet'.
