
Hawaii becomes the 50th American state
In March 1959, the US government passed the Hawaiian Admission Act setting the process of statehood in motion.
On 18 March 1959, Hawaii is brought into the United States of America as the 50th state with the passing of the Hawaiian Admission act.
Five months later, on 21 August it is officially proclaimed the 50th state by President Eisenhower.
