Deadline to secure Congressional approval for Iran war passes

President Trump needs to secure approval for military action lasting over 60 days.

The deadline for Donald Trump to secure authorisation from the US Congress to continue the war against Iran has passed. By law the Trump administration must receive approval from Congress within sixty days of the president's notification of strikes against Iran - or cease hostilities. The US Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth has argued that President Trump does not have to comply because the cease-fire agreement with Iran paused the clock. We take a look at the where the campaign is now heading.

One of the world's biggest producers of fertiliser has said that the interruption to supply and production caused by the US-Israeli war on Iran is jeopardising global food production.

And the detained former Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been moved to house arrest, the country's state media has reported.
