
Nigeria launches redesigned banknotes
Nigeria's Central Bank is withdrawing current high value currency from circulation and replacing them with redesigned banknotes.
Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled new naira banknotes which authorities hope will be successful in combatting counterfeiting, the financing of terrorism, and illicit hoards of cash. An independent financial adviser says it is an opportunity for the Central Bank to get a handle on the cash component of the nation's money supply.
