South Africa: Official coronation of the new Zulu king

In South Africa, preparations are underway ahead of the official coronation of the new Zulu king Misuzulu ka Zwelithini on Saturday, although there is some controversy around events. President Cyril Ramaphosa will be in Durban to hand over the letter making the new king’s position official, but some family members have refused to recognise the monarch, and some accuse the ANC of attempting to capitalise on proceedings for political ends.

Plus, the World Health Organization is warning that millions of people in northern Ethiopia are in urgent need of humanitarian aid, facing a ‘perfect storm’ of deprivation.
