South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa Sworn In

South Africa has officially sworn in Cyril Ramaphosa alongside other MPs. But on the opening day of the newly elected National Assembly, some of the new ANC officials have had to postpone their ceremony while they wait to deal with matters previously raised by the party's Integrity Commission.

Algeria and Argentina are officially declared Malaria-free according to the World Health Organisation. Dr Magaran Bagayoko, director of communicable diseases at the WHO Regional Office for Africa, explains how they achieved the result.

Kenyan writer and LGBT Rights activist Binyavanga Wainaina dies aged 48 in Nairobi. He won a Caine Prize for his book 'Discovering Home'. Famous for publicly coming out in Kenya in 2014, he was named on the same year among Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.
