Goodbye to Maida Vale Studios

After nine decades, the BBC will leave the Maida Vale Studios this summer

A former ice rink in West London has been a hub for the BBC's musical output for nearly a century, but will close this summer.
Built to make a permanent home for the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the site has also been the home for BBC news output during World War 2, pioneered stereophonic broadcasting, made experimental audio through its Radiophonic Workshop and hosted hundreds of iconic music sessions.
The BBC Music Studios will move to East London, while a partnership including Hans Zimmer will take over the Maida Vale site.
