Coded Warning

Retrace events from Saturday 15 June 1996 when a bomb went off in central Manchester, injuring hundreds.

Reports at the time shared details of a telephone warning in the morning as the city centre was filling up with shoppers. The caller used a recognised IRA codeword and Police believed the IRA planted the device.
