'British Pie Awards' Hits All The High Notes
As well as being the spiritual home of the pork pie, every year Melton Mowbray plays host to The British Pie Awards.
St Mary’s Church in the town is the venue, as 189 Competitors from across the country submitted their entries this year - to have their prize pies prodded, poked and sampled by the 187 judges.
Matthew O’Callaghan is chair and founder of the awards and, with standards become more demanding every year, celebrity chef Phil Vickery is one of this year’s judges.
