Stevie and Pete of the Special Operations Response Team join the other emergency services at the scene of man who is threatening to harm himself in a public place. It’s a distressing situation that takes a sudden, unexpected turn. Pete must take action to help rescue the patient and deliver him safely to the care of a local ambulance crew.
Serving a community of around 9,000 people, Dunoon-based paramedic Ben is used to the occasional quiet shift. But he has a potentially life-threatening emergency in the shape of Ian, who has a blood clot in his lung. It’s vital the team get him across the Firth of Clyde for specialist care at Inverclyde Hospital - but will they make the last ferry of the night?
Meanwhile, in Paisley, ambulance technicians Lewis and Steven take stroke patient John to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for an emergency thrombectomy. But John’s case brings back difficult memories for Steven, who is living with the recent loss of his father in tragically similar circumstances.
