Radio 2's new Breakfast Show host Sara Cox joins Vernon Kay to choose ten songs that have soundtracked her life, ahead of launching the show on Monday 6 July.
Sara tells Vernon about her childhood on a farm in Bolton, where they discuss all the places they probably crossed paths without realising in their youth. Then she discusses her early modelling career, including trips to South Korea, before a memorable audition in Manchester to get her first TV role in The Girlie Show on Channel 4. Then there are stories about going for dinner with Eminem whilst presenting the Radio 1 Breakfast Show and interviewing her favourite guest Missy Elliott, before choosing songs dedicated to her children and her husband, Ben.
Sara was born in 1974, the youngest of five, and spent much of her childhood on her dad's farm where a love of animals has stayed with her ever since. She became a model after being scouted during a trip to Paris, then successfully auditioned for her first presenting role, fronting Channel 4's The Girlie Show. Then followed more TV work followed by joining Radio 1, where she hosted the Breakfast Show from 2000 to 2003. Around a decade later she first joined Radio 2 where her shows have included Sounds Of The 80s and most recently her weekday teatime show. Last year she ran an incredible 135 miles across five days and raised £11.7 million for Children In Need. On 6 July she'll take over the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, bringing all your favourite bits from the afternoon, alongside plenty of brand-new breakfast treats to start your day.
