BBC Tees tackles anti-social behaviour

Thousands of pounds are being spent every day in the fight to make the streets a safer place to be, but what works and what doesn't? BBC Tees is asking people who live and work in the region to share their views and first-hand experiences of the problems and solutions being tried.

As part of a wider BBC North East & Cumbria investigation into anti-social behaviour across the region, BBC Tees is offering people the opportunity to talk directly to the Redcar MP and Solicitor General, Vera Baird QC MP, and Cleveland's Chief Constable, Sean Price, in a live, on-air discussion at Marske Leisure Centre on Friday 29 February from 9.00 to 10.00am.

Places are limited, so people interested in coming along to share their views are asked to apply using the link at bbc.co.uk/tees.

Matthew Barraclough, BBC Tees Editor, said: "We hear about anti-social behaviour all the time. Some people really believe we live in a fractured society; others think it's always been like this, but nowadays media hype creates a climate of fear.

"BBC Tees will try to get past the hype and give real people the opportunity to engage with two influential figures from the world of politics and law enforcement."

Matthew Davies, BBC Tees Breakfast presenter, who is chairing the event, said: "This is a rare opportunity for people to put their views to some of the most powerful people in law enforcement and politics in the region.

"There can be few people whose lives are not touched by this issue in some shape or form so I'm looking forward to what promises to be a passionate and enlightening event."

People who are unable to make the discussion at Marske Leisure Centre are invited to share their experiences by going to the special section on bbc.co.uk/tees or email videos and pictures to tees@bbc.co.uk.
