The BBC has selected eight companies to supply design and management services for a wide range of small to medium-sized construction projects across its UK property portfolio.
As part of an EU procurement process, 25 companies were initially invited to tender for the contracts in November 2005, and from these 15 were shortlisted in February 2006.
Two companies have now been selected in each of four professional disciplines and each of the eight will be awarded a framework agreement.
The eight companies will take over from the current provider, Land Securities Trillium, on 1 July 2006.
The companies are:
Cost Consultancy Services
Currie and Brown Group Ltd
Cyril Sweett Limited
Design Services
Building Design Partnership
tp bennett LLP
Project Management and Planning Supervision Services
Dearle & Henderson
Capita Symonds
Structural and Services Engineering
Jacobs
Faber Maunsell
In addition, Johnson Controls, appointed in March to provide facilities management services to the BBC in London and Scotland, will also provide design and management services for smaller construction projects in these areas.
Tony Wilson, Head of Workplace Solutions, BBC, said: "We're looking forward to working with this strong line-up of suppliers.
"The new framework agreements give us flexibility to procure the specialist services we need, whilst also allowing us to get maximum value for money.
"These companies will help us to deliver flexible and modern buildings which are fit for the BBC's purpose in the digital age."
A further eight construction companies were invited to tender for building works and services contracts in January.
The successful bidders will be announced by the end of May 2006.
This procurement follows the refocusing of the BBC/Land Securities Trillium property partnership to concentrate solely on major building projects.
