Immediately after each episode digital viewers can watch additional films through the BBCi Dunkirk interactive service by pressing the red button.
These include interviews with British, French and German eyewitnesses telling the true stories of different parts of the Dunkirk evacuation as depicted in that evening's drama.
Their testimonies allow viewers to hear first hand accounts of living through the evacuation of Dunkirk.
Viewers can also watch a 50 minute complementary documentary entitled Dunkirk: The Soldiers' Story to be broadcast on Saturday 21 February.
The Countdown to Dunkirk
In the fortnight running up to the drama, digital viewers will be able to hear from these veterans in their own words and get exclusive daily previews to the drama by pressing red on their interactive remote controls.
As well as packaged video interviews and background features, interactive viewers (on Freeview, Digital Satellite and Digital Cable) will be able to view text notes about the evacuation including a detailed timeline and essential facts and figures.

Then, during each episode, digital viewers have the option to turn on veteran quotes alongside the drama (as integrated captions) to glean a personal insight to the events of May/June 1940.
1940 Eyewitness Stories
Immediately afterwards, digital viewers can go more in-depth with a choice of three short 1940 Eyewitness Stories.
These detailed personal testimonies revisit the key scenes and hear from the characters behind the drama in their own words.
Viewers get to choose which of the stories to watch or can see all of them one after another. The features last an average of eight to ten minutes and each cover the following subjects:
Episode One
The Retreat: The story of the chaos as refugees and troops take to the roads with personal recollections.
The Rescue: With first person accounts of the Royal Navy's Operation Dynamo mounted in an attempt to rescue a stranded army.
Last Stand: English and French eyewitness accounts of the rearguard action and survivor testimony of the massacre at Wormhout, where the order had been given to the forces to fight to the death...
Episode Two
The Beach: Veterans tell their stories of the long wait on the Dunkirk beaches, avoiding bombs and maintaining discipline.
Little Ships: Investigates the true story behind the tales that surround the Dunkirk evacuation as family members review the log books and personal accounts from the heroic civilian crewmen.
Cockle Boats: One community in Leigh-on-Sea remembers the sacrifice made by the Osborne family.
Episode Three
Last Hospital: Veteran survivors of the Chapeau Rouge remember the drastic measures taken to help the retreating wounded.
Germans Arrive: German eyewitness tell of their euphoria at taking Dunkirk.
Homecoming: Veterans and volunteers give accounts of the huge repatriation effort back home.
Digital viewers will be able to access all the content, whilst Satellite and Cable viewers will be able to watch the interactive films in any sequence following the transmission of the episode on BBC until midnight and after 10.00am the next day until the start of the next episode.
