BBC Worldwide adds hit programmes to U.S. Xbox and Zune Marketplace

BBC Worldwide today announced a deal with Microsoft in the U.S. that makes some of its most popular programming available to purchase and download for the first time from Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Zune Marketplace in the U.S.

The launch includes a number of shows that are broadcast on BBC Worldwide's U.S. cable channel BBC AMERICA, including Top Gear, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Little Britain, Robin Hood and Primeval.

Making programming available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the Zune Marketplace is an essential part of the ongoing strategy of BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, to secure the broadest possible distribution for its massive range of television content.

"BBC Worldwide is delighted to expand its digital distribution in the U.S. in partnership with Microsoft. We believe our engaging award-winning programmes are a perfect fit for the impressive Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Zune Marketplace experience," said Beth Clearfield, Vice President of Digital Media and Business Development, BBC Worldwide, America.

"We're thrilled to be adding a partner like BBC Worldwide to both Zune and Xbox LIVE - bringing people quality programming like Top Gear that appeals to our passionate gaming audience." says Christina DeRosa, Xbox LIVE general manager.
