| | Follow the yellow brick road to the Evesham Arts Theatre, who're staging The Wizard of Oz. |
 | | | The timeless and magic tale of Dorothy and her adventures in the magical world of Oz is being staged in Evesham.
The Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society are staging the Wizard of Oz in Evesham Arts Centre Theatre at 7.30pm from Tuesday the 16th to Saturday the 20th of September and at a matinee at 2pm on Saturday the 20th.
All the familiar characters created by L Frank Baum are there – the cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Wicked Witch and a delightful Dorothy with her dog Toto.
Toto is played by a real live dog called Murphy Bourne.
He's six years old and lives with 2 cats, Sam and Tigger.
He’s also no stranger to public performances having appeared once in a Billy Davis Band concert.
His owner says he's really looking forward to treading the boards again and furthering his acting career.
The cast should remember that old theatrical adage about never appearing with children and animals, and will have to take care that they're not upstaged.
Tickets are available at Wallace House, Oat Street, Evesham 10am to 4pm or by telephone 01386 41952. | | | |
