Jim Rider. Honiton.
We enjoy visiting a family hut on the cliff at Portland Bill. Front row, great views over the Portland Race, cliff birds and the lighthouse. The hut is probably 80+ years old at least and the only things we have changed is the lock which has just failed and the gas cylinder which was around 40 years old as was the calor gas hob. Old hats hang on ancient pegs and the deckchairs were new in 1940s. It has stood firm against countless gales. Family members gather from Essex, Liverpool and all along the South coast. What pleasure it has given us all for many years. Love it to bits ! Good luck for your project Kathryn... if you need a cuppa, you are welcome to pop in ! Jim Rider.

Reply from BBC host: Hi Jim - thanks for the evocative memories. We'd like to talk to you about your beach hut in more detail - maybe you could e-mail us with your phone number at devon.online@bbc.co.uk
