Sid's Adventure was inspired by Exeter's annual animation festival.
Each year Devon school children get some hands on experience and learn some of the techniques and skills involved in film making and animation.
Here, Kevin Cotter - a teacher from St David's First School in Exeter - introduces their film, and gets some reaction from his crew of talented film makers.
SID'S ADVENTURE
What does a gardening club do when it rains? Make an animated film about snails!
Sids Adventure involved over twenty 5-7 year olds in modelling, music making and simple stop frame animation.

We liked the way that the animation was edited together with real action. The fact that it was set in our school but with a snails eye view gave the children a different perspective on their surroundings.
The whole project was a good example of adults and children engaged in co-operative and creative learning. We used an iMac, Canon DV camera and Apples very easy to use iMovie editing software.
We can thoroughly recommend the experience as one way to fill wet playtimes!
THE MAKING OF SID'S ADVENTURE....
I liked it when we did the music because it was really really loud and it was really good because we had our names come up. It was really really embarrassing.
Zoe
It was very good because I liked making the snail. I liked moving the snail on obstacles. It was quite easy. I liked the part when Sid went into the office.
Owen

I liked the film because it was all about animals. I made a slug. I did the music and the bit with the slug on the PE mat.
Harriet
We liked making models. Both of us made snails. It was easy moving them around. We think that the whole school enjoyed watching our film.

It was great being the narrator for Sids adventure. I was especially proud of my mum who helped me a lot.
I was embarrassed when I saw the film in the hall because my voice was on it but everyone said that it was good. I would like to make another film about animals.
Sean
It was great! I loved doing the music. It was exciting. It was loud!
Carys
I enjoyed making the film. I liked making the models move. I thought that it was quite hard to. I liked eating the popcorn after the film.
